After the vacations, the twins are surprised by their cousin Alison, who joins them to come to St. Clare too. However, Alison is a spoiled, silly and vain girl who makes herself unpopular with everyone. The climax is when she uses Rita's essay, which she had been working on for days, to make a fire. Rita works all night to rewrite her paper, proving the spirit of St. Clare.
